TN Day 4 – Another Waterfall and Dollywood

We could also do things separately, as we had two cars. So Bailey and Jett headed off to Dollywood because they wanted to (well, Bailey did…) and the rest of us didn’t! So first, a summary of Dollywood:

Some thrilling rides
Good food
Overall chill vibes

The rest of us headed back to Grotto Falls in the National Park. This time, we had nailed the parking strategy by aiming for a spot about 1/2 mile away from the trailhead. It was good for parking, but the trail had some downed trees which were quite interesting to navigate. Overall the 3-4 mile walk was fun and standing behind a waterfall is always cool. The lack of parking helped make it less busy.

There is a tree in the way.
I’m stuck!
Ganoderma mushrooms flourished on the fallen tree.
I am sure you want to know that this lovely beetle is a Megalodacne. They enjoyed the mushroom.
The trail was without obstacles once we hit the main one.
The bees were enjoying the Mountain Laurel too.
The hike’s destination.
It’s cool behind the waterfall.
It’s not so cool getting wet!
Known as Doghobble.
We let Kylie and Samuel go and get the car from our strategic parking, while we strategically rested!
While Kylie and Samuel shopped a bit, we had to get our selfie with the National Park sign.
From back at our cabin, the Smokies looked like they were wearing a hat.

I missed photographing our two next activities. We headed into Pigeon Forge where we went go-carting. We drove in pairs, and Samuel claimed victory as they finished just in front of us, though he also started just in front of us… Then, Kylie and Samuel fixed a fine curry for dinner, but no photo 😕. I did remember to photograph the ice cream that we had in Scott’s honor.

Then it was back to Hillbilly golf to play the other eighteen holes.

The course had a cool vibe in the dark.
In case you want to try this at home!

We were all exhausted after the game and a fine day, and that wrapped up our time in Gatlinburg.

I had to get one more photo from our deck before heading to Nashville.

This page is part of our Tennessee set of posts.
